Wine Red vintage 2022 from the Castellu di Baricci estate

Work in the vineyard

  • The terroir : granite arena soil in silts and sands.

  • Climate and exposure : South-east facing hillsides (4,700 feet/ha). The Cagna mountain (1,400 m) creates a strong day/night temperature amplitude. AOP Corsica Sartène.

  • Grape varieties and crops : organic farming (Ecocert certified). 9 ha of Sciacarellu, Niellucciu and Minustellu, Royat cordon pruning, manual work, light plowing, clay-based treatments.

Cellar work

  • Harvest : manual, in the morning in small crates, started on August 20, 2022 (yield: 35 hl/ha).

  • Vinification and aging : light destemming, natural fermentation without yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, regular pumping over and racking, 5-week vatting then aging in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months.
    60 % Sciacarellu, 30 % Niellucciu, 10 % Minustellu.

In mouth
Ruby red color. Spicy nose of strawberry and raspberry. Full, rich palate with spicy and slightly cocoa notes. Fine and elegant wine, to be served at room temperature with lamb or dishes in sauce.
Storage: 5 to 10 years.
